Loan Review Credit Quality Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:


This individual is expected to have experience in commercial lending and strong credit analysis skills, with the ability to work in a multi-faceted and changing environment.¬  The primary responsibility is to review loans of all types and complexity to assure acceptable credit and underwriting standards and to assure that loans and lending activities conform to the FMB credit policy and procedures.


The office¬ location for this position is flexible.



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (or equivalent experience) required

  • 5+ years of commercial lending or credit underwriting experience in a commercial bank

  • Experience in a loan review function helpful

  • Experience with loan workouts helpful

  • Knowledge of moderately complex commercial loan documentation required

  • Knowledge of commercial loan structure and analysis

  • Knowledge of the business environment

  • Knowledge of regulations and appraisal guidelines

  • Strong communication, negotiating, analytical and investigation skills

  • Ability to evaluate moderately complex problems and draw conclusions

  • Ability to apply critical thinking to identify issues and exercise sound judgment

  • Ability to work independently and as a group

  • PC literacy ‚€“ Microsoft Office suites

  • Ability to set priorities, plan and follow through



DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Loan Review:



  • Review of commercial and consumer loans of all types to assure accuracy of risk ratings, acceptable underwriting standards, effective portfolio management and attentiveness to the requirements of the Credit Policy¬ 

  • Review of commercial loans including:



  • Financial statement analysis

  • Performance to approval

  • Assess the quality of underwriting

  • Monitor credit policy exceptions

  • Pursue, negotiate and finalize the outcome



  • Assist Senior Reviewers in planning and executing reviews

  • Engage the credit process to assure consistent credit culture

  • Interview loan officers regarding credits reviewed

  • Recommend and negotiate differences in risk assessment

  • Maintain accuracy and quality of work papers

  • Maintain productivity to established standards

  • Establish working relationships with commercial leadership (Line of Business Directors, Credit Officers and Group Heads)

Planning and Reporting:



  • Assist in the maintenance of the Loan Review Risk Assessment

Loan Review Process and Systems:



  • Assist in the ongoing enhancement of Loan Review processes and procedures

    ¬ 


    Other Duties:




  • Travel (some overnight) to FMB locations required

  • Help train and mentor new hires and junior associates

  • Complete all required training sessions for compliance

  • Maintain current training levels in commercial credit as offered by FMBU and externally

  • Participate in the activities of Credit Administration and Loan Committees as required

  • Recommend changes to the credit policy as needed



  • Maintain proficiency in FMB standard technologies and systems

  • Make recommendations for changes to the Loan Review program

  • Monitor and apply changes in policy and regulations

  • Special projects as assigned

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
